A few colleagues of mine (18 altogether) were toying with the idea of setting up some sort of fund and administering/managing it ourselves. Would anyone have an any idea where one should start gathering reliable information on setting up the fund and also the idea of holding the shares of the fund in trust. The idea would be to put an amount of funding together and minimise the risk to all involved while diverisifying the investment over a time period in a number of countries. We were thinking of a min investment of 5 years, max 15 years. If it is not too complicated to set up one person could manage it. To be honest -it's a total new area for me but I have been asked to come up with a proposal and how to manage it, I'm not sure where to start and a bit nervous about the whole idea - you know not to make a shams of it. If anyone has advice on this I'd be grateful.
Investment advice
When it comes to investments trust nobody but yourself:cool:
Apparently there are a lot of studies that show that funds set up like that are often not that profitable because a certain number of members might want to change if a part of the investment bombs, and the transaction charges each time really take their toll.
You would need to come to decision about what to invest in and hold this for a long period of time. Trying to do this yourself is hard enough let alone 15 people!
Maybe you could get a joint account with a broker/bank?

Thanks very much, yes we would agree on the investment portfolio, we would also lock in for min 5 yrs and then review the situation then, but I hadn't thought of the partnership idea with the bank/broker, so thanks again
