I need to know if the florida staue in the state requires car rental companies to provide renters/leases with car insurance. In other words when I drive off the lot am I insured.

Insured for what purpose? A rental car will typically carry a minumum level of insurance, such that it can be legally driven (Florida's statute is here), but with your being offered additional insurance products by the car company, for example to cover any collision damage to the car while it is in your possession. Often you will have coverage through your own auto insurance policy from your personal vehicle, and may get additional coverage through your credit card company if you rent with a credit card.

I am from another state and I dont own a motor vechile so I dont have insurance for myself. I need to know if I or the car I am renting is insured by the car rental company with the legal minimum coverage required by the State of florida if I dont purchase insurance from the car rental company or they dont offer it to me and I get into and accident.
