Parking Lot Backing-up Accident

Hi, I was involved in a supermarket's parking lot car accident yesterday (in Los Angeles County, CA). So, here is what happened. I was backing up from my parking spot, and my mini-van collided with another lady's SUV, she was also backing from her parking space at the same time. So, I guess we both were in the "Reverse" gear. And there was damage on my mini-van's rear end as well the other lady's SUV's bumper. So, I was wondering, how do the insurance companies usually settle this kind of claim? Would my insurance company pay for her damage, and her insurance pay for mine? Or would they argue that we're both at fault and only pay for 50% of the damage? Btw, there was no witness, but i did called the police, but after the officer arrived, he said it was just an accident, and no one was hurt, so no police report was needed.
So, for those of you who has had these kinds of experiences, would you tell me what is the best way to settle this case? Like how should I deal with the both my and the other party's insurance company? And what are some of the insurance company's tricks that i have to look out for?

Thanks so much for your input. Please help...
You can try making a claim with the other driver's insurance company - if you're equally at fault or they believe you are at fault, they will deny your claim. You can also look into whatever collision coverage you have under your own policy.
A claim will need to be filed with both companies and hopefully both companies will come to the same conclusion.

The adjuster will consider the point of impacts on both cars, how far both were out from their spot, were either of the cars turning, and what evasive actions may have been taken by either.

Example , if both cars were out equal distance , confirmed by damage on both cars to the right rear bumper, neither party saw each other before impact, it will be a sure 50/50 which in most states means you pay for your own damage.
