My stupid banking mistake
Talking about stupid mistake. I bank with CIBC. I set up a future payment to Amex. Then, later, I went back to check it and found out the transaction disappeared. I do have a hard copy of the transaction with the transaction number. "Forturnately", I found that out before the CC due date. I phoned CIBC. The CSR could not find that transaction even though I gave him the transaction number. He asked me to submit it again. He set up an investigation request for me.
Later, I got a funny letter from CIBC saying they could not refund the money from Amex. Hack! I did not ask them to refund the money.
Called CIBC again. It turns out I have 2 bank cards. I did not know the future bill payment information is attached to the bank card. I thought I can use them interchangeable.
I used one CIBC bank card to set up the transaction and used another one to check it later. That is why the first CSR could not find the transaction. The 2nd one was smarter. I ended up double pay Amex. The 2nd CSR was nice enough to help me to get back the 2nd payment from Amex. Fortunately, I got that back because I did not plan to use that Amex for a long while. Keeping over $500 there is not good.
Yes, I messed up.

hehe funny story, but remmeber, you are never too old to learn

Big deal, so you double paid your Amex bill. Amex would have refund you by cheque on request.

BTW, even if they write me a cheque, I will still need to wait for it and deposite it. It is better for the bank to get it for me before I know it. However, as I said, that was the point I start this thread.
