i'm going to the US on wends. and i was wondering if there was any better place to buy US money or should i just go to the nearest bank?

If you're a TD customer, there's a US bank machine at TD Centre that gives you a slightly better rate than if you went to a teller -- I recall 2% savings, but don't quote me on that; it's been a while since I've used it and they may have changed the rates given the strong CDN dollar.

i'm not with TD...oh well i guess it's the bank for me!

I remember having a list of all GTA non-bank currency exchange offices. But ones who offer you really good rate don't bother with amounts less than 10K and "accessible" ones wouldn't give you enough saving to pay for TTC trip downtown (it's where most offices are, Yonge South of College). Go to your nearest bank. They will rip you off a little bit, but that's price for convenience :-) Or just deposit your CADs to your checking account and use plastic South of 49 to get cash from ABM

get a friend who is a bank employee to exchange it at staff rate. buy and sell spread is almost the same.
