Hit by fraud: Can EMTs be tracked? What do I do now?

Just got ripped off by a (now banned) RFD member called "cancan77"
He ran off with 550$ of my hard earned money. I paid using Interac email money transfer. Can this be tracked back to him?

What should I do? Thanks guys.
[EDIT] And yes, I know. I should have taken the necessary precautions.

damn i wish i was that adventureres, paying someone $550 with 9 posts, prolly no references, and in a dif province! crazy!

anyways gl with trying to track the emt but based on what i read most of the time the banks won't help you with emt's. hopefully i am wrong.
AFAIK... EMTs are considered cash.

You should only send EMTs to friends - or people you trust
It going to be tough getting your cash back... Basically, the money is already out of your account when you complete the EMT transaction.

They can't disclose any information about that loser either.

EMTs are really convenient but this just reminds me that
there is no honour anymore between fellow RFDers.

what's a better way to pay someone then? Most if not all my non-local trades are done by EMT.

Same, but I won't do it without feedback.

Does eBay feedback count or it has to be Heatware ?
Well he had HEAT but it was most likely a fake account. I didn't check. Obviously, I regret it now. Anyhow, I got back to my bank. They said they'd contact a network/internet "specialist" (which I am guessing is one of their net tracking/processing guys) and give me a call back with more info.

Man.. I feel low.. and violent.
my bank (TD canadatrust) tells me that EMTs cannot be tracked by them. perhaps certapay will help as that is the company the banks use.
