RBC Visa Classic II Student Credit Card limit at $1500?
anyone have one of these?
i just openned a student acct with RBC, and they said the limit on their visa classics II students cards is 1500. seems kinda low to me? anyone manage to increase their limit?
im coming from bmo where i had their mosaik mastercard with a 10k limit, so my credit shouldnt be an issue.

i suppose it's because the card is a student visa card?
mine is still stuck at $1000.. and i never manage to increase it.
i've had the card for 6 years now.. pay the full amount payment every time.

1500 isn't low for a student card. When I signed up, they limited me at 500 to start. As a student though, I can't really see myself needing 1500 every month. If you need a bit more credit limit to make large purchases, you can always call the company ahead of time and ask for a temporary credit increase, and inform them of what you're going to be buying. I've had friends pay their college tuition by asking for an increase to 8K. It just depends on what you're using the money for.
I don't think the 'credit' matters in this case, they set up this limit to protect themselves.
They would love to increase limit for those have good credits, but once exceptions are made, there will be hell to pay - students tend to care less about their credits, I guess. :-)

- $500 from CIBC
- $1000 from RBC
- $2500 from TD Wal-Mart
$1000 is minimum for RBC Student cards so you're a little above average.
I believ 500 is the minimum. $1500 is the maximum. By all means if you're not a student anymore tell them. Or if you have suffiicent income otherwise, jusy apply for a normal gold card or whatever.
I would get rid of your student card. There really isnt any point in having one if youre already approved for a normal card with a 10k limit unless youre taking advantage of a really good balance transfer rate (assuming you do that). Theres so many other options. I just applied for a CIBC Aero Classic Visa card and got it today and was shocked to see that I only have a $3500 limit. Im a student but I have a good part time job and considering I have an amex charge card which I charged $9500 to last month and another amex Credit card with $8000 limit and the SPG Mastercard with a $6000 limit I have no idea how they based putting me on $3500 limit. Maybe cuz I dont bank with cibc.
