Cant get approved

Need a little help here, Discharged from BK-13 in June, since have american pacific secured card, mazda car loan, target card. I however been denied by cap 1 , household( orchard)and now providian, my scores are 640-660 on all three.
What can I do to get a card, I have read every post on this board and the three that everyone gets have turned me down. I only have 3 inquiries .

Any help would be appreciated.

sorry about that luck. you need to do a search on bk friendly cards. i dont know which those are without looking it up.

Search shows cap 1, providan and households as very friendly, even says that with providan anything over 600 your in, looked up all 3 on the "who pulled my credit" site and folks are getting approvals with lower scores, I did not have any credit cards in the BK so I don't think its a black list thing...Just a mystery..What to do

My Cap 1 was approved 30 days after I filed my bk-13 in 1996. This card was a secured card and it was from a mail offer. I think you need to received an offer from Cap 1 for their sub-prime card.

As for Providian I did not received an offer until 4 years into my bk.

Did you apply cold and tried to get their 'prime' cc?

There has been stories floating around that Providian is now headed towards prime customers but I personally have not seen this.

Just hang in there, if Cap 1 gave you a denial at least you are on their mailing list. Maybe a quick PFB to Cooke can get you started.

Best regards,
Mirage

I applied on-line, I opted out of promo offers so don't know if offers will come in the mail.
I read that you should apply and if you were not approved for prime sub would be automatically considered.

Yeah, those denials were based on their 'prime' stuff. Give Cooke a shout and see if there is a way you can get rolling on this, my guess is that a secured card from Cap 1 would be the only offer that you get for now. The good thing with Cap 1 is that once your in the door with them you will start getting more offers for low limit cards with annual fees (just a way for them to make more profit). But a way for to open TLs or combine them for a bigger CL, of course Cap 1 does not report your actualy CL they just show your highest balance as your CL.

As for Providian I really do think they have slowed down in the sub-prime business as there are less postings here about them in regards to new account openings. But I think they are still in that business as it's a huge money maker.

on pfb do I address it to mr cooke or just a post with a reconsideration question? should I call him? anyone have a phone number?

Just PFB to Cap 1, best to my knowledge all PFB letters ends up on his desk. Not sure if he is the only one in this department but past postings have indicated he's the 'man'.

Some have called him cold but I think it would be more polite to PFB a letter to him. This gives him a chance to read the letter at his own pace.

Mirage

how long does it take mr cooke to respond?

does anyone know mr cook's number, what department is he in?

DID YOU USE http://www.planetfeedback.com/consumer/ ???

yes I did a re consider letter at planet feedback.

Mr. Cooke isn't a cure all trust me.

He may be able to do some things but overriding a denial is another,

Have you been to www.firstpremierbank.com ?

I was approved through them a month ago with scores in the mid to high 500's.

Their criteria for approval is listed at the top of the application page and I believe you must be 6 months out of BK.

Good luck and still waiting for that email...

Is this a good card, I have read a lot of horror stories about different cards and dont want to have a big problem with a card.

Sorry, I cant give advice yet. So far so good though.

Still too new to relly know.

But 9.9% isnt too awful bad. Credit limit 1500.

SnakeMan

which report do they pull and do you get instant online approval?

No Sir.

This was online and takes up to 30 days for an answer. I did call after two weeks and they said it was pending that they were gonna request proof of income. They provided a fax number, I provided pay stubs and 10 days later got my new card.

Seemed simple enough for me.

whoa, Annual Fee of $48, Program Fee of $95, Account Set Up Fee of $29, monthly Participation Fee of $6, and an Additional Card Fee of $20 (if applicable).

Way too much

Well there you go.

SnakeMan

Thanks any way, american pacific is a good secured card and only 35 dollar annula fee,
Guess you have to pay big to play this game.

GOOD THING YOU DON'T HAVE THE $36 PAYMENT ACCEPTANCE FEE AND THE $36 STATEMENT MAILING FEE!!!

WTF?!

Why did I not see that shlit???

TARNATIONS!!!

I knew it was too good to be true.....imagine someone actually giving me something....HA!

I FORGOT ABOUT THE FEE FEE!!!

then you have to pay the I forgot the fee fee

I LOVE MY MONEY in my AMERICAN PACIFIC SECURED BANK ACCOUNT WITH 17% and no mega sleaze ball fees to fatten their pockets........

I agree, all those fees and they say that you will get at least a $259 line of credit, hello, you need that much to pay the fees

Hey man....some folks cannot get approved for anything else.

I would rather take that card than one of those USA Platinum internet catalog cards.

This "Pacific" bank you mentioned....is this a credit card? Is it secured?

What is their criteria?

Really easy to get , it is a secured card, 300 min to open, after 9 months of good pay they convert to semi secured and after 1 year non secured, I have a bk-13 that was 1 month old when I got mine, with that I went to target and got their card. Am Pac has a 35 dollar annual fee and thats all. best deal around for a secured card, they report every month like clockwork and it does not show as secured

snakeman,

It is a secured card, $300 to open, $35.00 fee, cash advances, 17% interest, deposits increase credit line,
statement every month, reports to all 3 CB's and does NOT report as a secured card. www.apbank.com, you can download the form or call the Aumsberg office and talk to Gwen......

I got a small ($500) unsecured HB card 6 months after filing BK13, and a small ($500) unsecured Cap1 card 8 months after filing.

I recently got denied for a Providian card, but I think that's because Sherman Acquisitions changed their account listing for their purchased IIB account from "IIB" to "chargeoff with a balance", dropping my score 50 points after I had been preapproved but before I had been reviewed.

All of these were in response to preapproved offers received through the mail.

That's the reason I didn't opt out of promo inquiries.
