I just got my 1st Citibank card last week in the mail and wouldn't you know I get a fraudulant email from someone pretending to be citibank.
It states the following:
Dear Citibank Member,
This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your e-mail
address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link
below and entering in the small window your Citibank ATM/Debit
Card number and PIN that you use on ATM.
This is done for your protection -- because some of our members
no longer have access to their email addresses and we must
verify it.
To verify your e-mail address and access your bank account,
click on the link below. If nothing happens when you click on the
link (or if you use AOL), copy and paste the link into the address
bar of your web browser.
This it goes on to give a link to a website to send in your CC# and PIN #!!! What if I did not know that I shouldn't do that? That is a major fraud operation, huh?
I called Citibank and the technical dept. said it was going around for months now! YIKES! I wonder how many people got swindled?
And my main concern is HOW did they get my email and know I had a Citibank card? Did Citibank sell my information?
