Hello Kagitora, I have no immediate answer re:employment for your wife, but I think the first issue that should be addressed is whether your immigration status (you didn't mention about them) allow for sponsorship of a visa permiting employment. The possibilities are endless - unfortunately, it would be difficult to share some advices without knowing a bit about your own particular situation.

Goodluck.

she can go to school and learn or even teach english, lots of opportunities. the biggest thing is having her here so you both can support each other. japan can get very lonely when you are alone.
Well, allow me to share the whole story then. I am on a three year contract for a certain IT company in Chiba. And what I asked the company before I came to Japan was that I be able to bring my wife with me. They agreed and said that she should be able to follow in three months time(which raises a question actually, is that possible?). So right now, I am waiting for my wife to come on board on july. I actually have no idea on how the company plans to bring her in. Thanks.
They maybe able to bring her to Japan on a dependent visa. However, as for allowing her to work in Japan would be different and it must be stated clearly in her visa if she is allowed to do so.

The only job she can do if she is allowed would be as an english teacher in a high school or elementary somewhere unless she would be willing to do menial jobs for very low pay. Please check the 'Jobs' sub-forum for teaching jobs.

Like Firipinjin-san mentioned, she could come in on a dependent visa. But as a dependent, technically she isn't allowed to work. One thing she could try to do once she arrive is to apply for a Change of Status to something that would allow employment. She would still have to go to the process of employer sponsorship though.
so in actuality, it is really "realistic" that my company could bring my wife to Japan in 3 months time considering that I have only been here for a month or so? The reason I asked is because my friend should have come here however he declined the offer once he learned from an agency in the philippines that it will take three years before you could bring your wife in? Please enlighten me. Thank you for your replies.
Your company should be able to bring your wife here. Your wife will need a certificate of eligibility which will speed up the process. Look here:

Let your company work on it not you.
thank you very much... thank you for enlightening me on my situation.

i just hope she could find a job here. i know how hard it is staying at home and being bored all the time. :(

thank you for your help guys.

Three months is quite possible (COE and all that) But the problem is - when do you really start counting? Your company might be providing the logistics for your wife's application but the paperwork will point to you as the sponsor. Usually, the sponsor's length of stay + employment status (to determine financial capability) is the most important factor - and I doubt how that could be established with a months stay on record.

But since this is Japan where "case by case" is the norm, nothing is indeed impossible. Ask the employer how they intend to go about their promise.
I actually have no idea on how the company plans to bring her in.Tulad ng sinabi ni wrangler, ikaw ang magiging sponsor nya, so kailangang malaman mo ang requirements and procedures. Search ka na lang po dito sa TF, marami kang mahahanap na impormasyon tungkol sa dependent visa. May sample translation pa ng Marriage Contract (na kailangan mong i-submit) if you just look. Goodluck! :)
Thank you Dax. Will look for the said necessary documents. Thanks again
ah. where can i find the translated marriage contract.
could someone please help me locate it.
